“Stuck” No 1 consists of 60 pages of previously unreleased photos of some of the sickest NYC stickers plus interviews with BASER, ALONE, MINUS and CRASTY. Each copy of the zine comes with three hand-written stickers, along with a full set of four vinyl stickers made exclusively for this issue. The cover image was screenprinted over layers of stickers and up to four colors of paint, giving each cover a completely unique look and texture. After aborting my Los Angeles relocation a few years ago, I thought along with the gang driven drive-by shootings and talk of “colors”, I’d also be leaving the accompanying graffiti. Well, maybe not so quick. Seems that New York has been getting its fair share of gang turf wars as evident on the streets of Brooklyn…

The annual Mermaid Parade at Coney Island was last weekend. Beautiful day and I got to paint/airbrush some scales on a couple of beautiful mermaids…

Yes, I can airbrush. No, I will NOT do any t-shirts. But I will body paint for the right person, project (and ..price!). Now taking appointments for Halloween and the next Mermaid Parade or anything else fun.
So many cool costumes at the parade and throughout the day/night. Some people’s creativity was really impressive, girls were looking great as usual, and I got more than a chuckle at others. Here’s a glimpse… (more…)

Just heard that SURE (ATM, HAA, 156), half of the duo “SURE + FAUST”, has been killed while in the line of duty in Afghanistan at the age of 25. If you’ve been around lower Manhattan (or all of New York for that matter) in the last few years, you’ve surely (no pun intended) seen his over saturation of stickers. And these aren’t the (so trendy right now) printed vinyl stickers, these are all hand done with some of the dopest handstyles in the graffiti world. I met him briefly last year (He actually caught me getting up. Classic.). We talked for a minute and exchanged some stickers. Seemed like a genuine cool dude. He’ll definitely be missed. Rest In Peace.
Check SURE out in Martha Cooper‘s book “Name Tagging” and read an interview with him at Mark Batty Publishing.

Genuine Artikle would like to announce “The Almighty Dunny Show” curated by Genuine Artikle and hosted at Halcyon in Dumbo Brooklyn. On Dec 11th over 250 customized 3 inch Kidrobot Dunnys will be on display at Halcyon from 7pm to 10pm. Many of today’s hot designers will be represented in this weekend only event in the heart of Brooklyn’s underground.
The Dunny is referred to as the top designer toy platform. It is only produced in a printed form, so all pieces for the show were stripped bare and mailed out to national and international toy designers, graffiti writers, street artists and graphic designers.
Come join us for a free night of art and a special set of music provided by legendary Brooklyn DJ JASON JINX.
